I will be participating in the annual Rainbow Book Fair🌈

The LGBT Center on April 20 with Erica from @Yuricon, so this is a rare chance to get both of our books signed! Our room is 301, and since my table is the only one with otaku manga drawings, I'm sure you'll be able to find me easily 😆.

There will also be the usual @QueersandComics members there....................come and visit us!

Rica Takashima’s short profile as a Manga artist

 

In 1995, Rica started drawing the semi-autobiographical Manga portraying everyday lives of lesbians, in Japan’s premier lesbian magazine at that time. She struggled with her sexuality since her young age, but there were no movies/novels with themed positive lesbian stories even in 1980s. Her questions towards traditional Japanese patriarchal family values and discrimination against LGBT motivated her to start to draw conceptual Manga to public. Her project Manga book was published in 2003 and 2012 in English and Japanese, and Italian version in 2011. After she immigrated to the US with her family in 2008, she collaborates her work with Pride March, NewFEST LGBT film festival, and other diverse organizations.

She also created illustrations of We Can Do It! series, which encourages women in diversity. She sells cards, pins, tote, etc. with illustrations of diverse girls such as Afro girl, Hispanic girl, Hijab girl, FtM, Asian girl, and Braid girl.

Noto Peninsula in Japan Earthquake Disaster Relief Fundraiser Exhibitions

ARTISTS for NOTO: Noto Peninsula in Japan Earthquake Disaster Relief Fundraiser Exhibitions & Pop-up stores + Wajima-nuri Lacquerwares Sales Event

I will participate in the two-day event on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
It is a fundraising exhibition/event for the earthquake victims.

My art works are digital prints in this time. I will be donating the entire amount of sales, minus the cost of framing, to the victims of the earthquakes.
There will be many other wonderful artists who agree with the purpose of the event.

As the goal of this fundraiser is to support cultural activities and recoveries in Noto Peninsula region in Japan, all proceeds we raise will be donated to the “Ishikawa Band Association” to support children and students' brass band education and activities in the Noto region as well as the “GBFund” to help
restore/repair artworks and historical cultural properties.

私はデジタルプリント作品を出品します。売上からは額代を引いた金額を全額寄付にする予定です。

私の他にも、開催趣旨に賛同した素敵な作家さん達が多数出品いたします。詳しくは、 添付のフライヤーならびにウェブサイトをご参照ください。

「芸術家による芸術文化支援」という趣旨のもと、今回のイベ ン ト で得た収益は全て、被災地での吹奏楽 活動に従事する子どもや学生を支援する「石川県吹奏楽連盟吹奏楽義援金制度」と、有形無形文化資源の 再生・芸術作品の修復・被災地を応援する芸術文化活動のサポートなどを行うメセナ協議会「GBFund」 に募金されます。

展示の他にも、2 日間の会期中、ニューヨークを拠点に活動する音楽家によるコンサート、茶道体験イベント、サイレントオークションも企画されています。とりわけ、輪島市にある「田 谷漆器店」が今回のイベントにあわせて渡米し出店する、被災を免れた縁起の良い幸運の輪島塗漆器の展示即売会は、ニューヨークでは滅多に手に入らない輪島塗漆器をお買い求めいただける良い機会になると 思います！

復興支援 へのご協力方々、イベ ン ト 当日のご来場を心よりお待ち申し上げております。

Artist Vee, who met at a Comic Con in Brooklyn, has created a new community event in the Bronx. It's a video game, anime, manga, and other pop culture event. The Bronx is the birthplace of hip-hop and graffiti. I hope a new culture will emerge again from here♪
